Summer's Almost Gone!

School's back in session, and summer is all but gone.

There won't be a farmers' market next weekend due to the Labor Day holiday.

Be sure you get out to our farmers' market the first weekend of September!

Don't Forget...

There is no Farmers' Market this weekend, July 6th. We'll all be celebrating the holiday weekend with family. We would love to see you at a service at St. Thomas Episcopal on Sunday though.
We have 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services.

Here are a few pictures of the Morgan County Dulcimer Association that played at last Saturday's Farmers' Market. I heard the music was beautiful!

See you Saturday, July 13th, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.!

Until July 13th...

Can you imagine my sadness that I'm, unfortunately, missing another Farmers' Market this Saturday? Family plans changed, and I'm not going to make it into Huntsville this week.  I'm wondering what tea flavors Samovar Gardens will be serving.  ??
(Someone please post a comment Saturday telling me what I missed!)

I'm secretly glad that we're not holding a market on Saturday, July 6th.  :)  One less market that I won't miss.  I will be there on Saturday, July 13th, however.  I've heard through the grape vine that there are several new farmers, and that most of the food is gone by 11:30 a.m. each Saturday.

Since I've been missing in action, thought I'd post a few yummy recipes I've seen on Pinterest that I'd like to try with some produce from the Bailey Cove Farmers' Market.

Don't forget that you can visit our Facebook page or our website, if you need more information.
See you soon!  :)

Week 2!!

As I live in Georgia, and missed out on the 2nd week of Bailey Cove's Farmers' Market, I will share with you images of what you and I missed.  Luckily for you, you likely live in Huntsville or the surrounding areas and can get there next week!

The dynamic team of volunteers from St. Thomas Episcopal revamped organization and moved vendors to the front of the church to ease the flow of traffic and increase number of parking spaces available.

Additional vendors, such as Greene Street Gourmet
and

were there!

Samovar Tea was back!  I'm so jealous that I didn't get to taste "Pink Mar-tea-ni", "Healing Honeysuckle", or "Pom Pearadise" flavors.  I do still have my jar for tea though...

Squash and sweet onions - can't beat that for a healthy side dish.
Though frankly, I could eat just that for dinner!

So pretty!

This looks like it was fun!  Anybody know what went on here?

See you next week, June 15, 2013,
8 a.m. - 12 p.m.!!

Success!

WOW!  Our vendors sold out of their produce by 9:30 a.m.!  The weather was perfection-Praise God! The growing season is approximately 3 weeks behind due to the cooler weather, so be sure you make it out early next Saturday to enjoy the extra amounts of great food, the good times, and the fantastic company!!

I purchased a glass jar ($6) full of Briar Patch tea from Samovar Gardens, and of course, went back for a discounted price ($3) refill.  The refill price is good all summer. They mix in some simple syrup = yum-o!  It is quite refreshing!!

My mom purchased a gallon of strawberries from Mimi's Garden & Bakery in addition to orange rolls, that smelled delicious!  She also nabbed some squash before it was all sold.

I bought some detox bubble bath and a bar of lavender sandal wood soap from Lotions & Potions.  I got my niece (pictured below, right) and nephew a gourmet frozen treat from Suzy's stand.

Closing reminders:
There will be greater amounts of produce next week.
There will be a couple of different vendors too.

Thank you for coming!
See you next Saturday, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.!

Come on out!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!  We're open from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. today!

One Day Away!

Hot off the presses!  I've found out some of the vendors for tomorrow's first Bailey Cove Farmer's Market.  In no particular order:

We will be hosting Bob Jones and his chicken tractors for those of you diving into raising your own chickens or for those who want a new abode for your current egg-laying friends.

Caleb Christopher from Samovar Gardens will be bringing delicious compost and loose leaf teas, as well as herbs.

Cooking up something healthy for dinner?  We've got you covered!  Wade Whited Farms will be present with greens, onions, squash, and broccoli.  J. Calvert Farms will provide strawberries, squash, collards, broccoli, and onions.  Flint Fields Farm will have delectable asparagus, onions, and peas.  Sandlin Farm has produced a variety of lettuces, onions, and peas too!  J. Sparks Farm will also have lettuces, in addition to kale, arugula, and spinach.  Stapler's Local Grown Produce will have onions, radishes, squash, and zucchini-perfect for a summer vegetable dish!  Steve Carpenter of Jack-O-Lantern Farms will have a wide variety of choices:  squash, zucchini, eggs, beef, honey, greens, and cherry tomatoes!  We hope to see Amber Jones from Echota Venture with compost bins, straw bales, herbs, and squash.
Need a treat for yourself or a friend?  Carly Ayala of Lotions and Potions will be bringing homemade lotions, soaps, lip balm, bubble bath, and bath salts.  Linda Bulbaugh of Mimi's Country Tearoom will have baked goods and homemade ice cream-yum!  Tracy Hall of Hall and Sons Produce Farm will be present with kale, canned goods, and baked goods.  As you saw in this blog's previous post, Kelly Mortensen of Queen Bee Jams will be there with jams and jellies.

Suzy Naumann and Lane Tutt will provide refreshing gourmet popsicles in addition to homemade salad dressings, jams, and relishes.  Lastly, Mary Frances Brosemer of Brosemer Farm will have beautiful flowers and delicious honey!

Looking Forward to the Market!

June 1st is rapidly approaching, and we're all looking forward to the first market!  Thought we'd share that Queen Bee Jams will be there!  Tasted some of their scrumptious blackberry jam this weekend.  They have lots of delicious jams, pepper jelly, and fruit butters!  Crafted from their family recipe, all jams are made from whole fruit and processed by hand in small batches.
